Foundational Learning

Building the base. Strengthening the future.

Before a young person can learn a skill or get a job, they need something even more fundamental: the confidence that learning is possible for them. That is where foundational learning comes in.

Our foundational programmes focus on building literacy, numeracy, and basic problem-solving abilities — the building blocks that make every other kind of learning possible. We work especially with young people who have had gaps in their education, making sure no one is left behind because of where they grew up or what life threw at them.

In districts like Bhubaneswar, Pune, Raipur, and Telangana, we have seen digital unfamiliarity slowly give way to confidence. Youth who had rarely interacted with formal technology environments began navigating workplace tools and service platforms with ease. Computers that once felt foreign became familiar. Software that seemed complicated became manageable.

For youth with limited access to quality education, basic computer use and spoken English often stood as quiet barriers. Addressing these gaps through our programmes with partners like Akshardham (BAPS Sri Swaminarayan Mandir) transformed hesitation into confidence. Job applications that once felt too difficult became manageable. Interviews that inspired dread became conversations. Workplaces that required email and spreadsheets became accessible.

School Support Programs

Schools are the heartbeat of a community’s education. But in many parts of India, they are also stretched thin — lacking resources, trained teachers, and the kind of support that turns a classroom into a real place of learning.

OES works alongside schools to fill these gaps. We bring in trained facilitators, hands-on learning materials, and structured programmes that help teachers teach better and students learn deeper. Our goal is simple: make every school a place where young people actually want to come.

Second Chance Education

It is never too late to learn. It is never too late to begin.

Life doesn’t always go as planned. Some young people drop out of school because of poverty, family responsibilities, or circumstances beyond their control. But that doesn’t mean their story is over.

Our Second Chance Education programme is built for exactly these young people. It offers flexible, supportive pathways back into learning — programmes that fit around their lives, not the other way around. We meet them where they are and help them find their way forward, one step at a time.
