Empowering Women Through Skills, Knowledge & Opportunity
Building Livelihoods. Sustaining Growth. Transforming Lives.
At Orion Educational Society, we believe that true development begins at the grassroots. The Women and Inclusive Development Programme (WIDP) is our commitment to building stronger, more self-reliant communities — by improving livelihoods, expanding access to resources, and supporting sustainable growth for every individual, family, and neighbourhood we serve.
Why Inclusive Development Matters
No Community Left Behind.
Across rural and semi-urban India, millions of families continue to struggle with poverty, unemployment, and limited access to government schemes, financial services, and skill development opportunities. The gap between policy and ground-level impact remains wide — and the most vulnerable communities bear the greatest cost.
Inclusive development is not just about economic growth — it is about ensuring that growth reaches everyone. When communities are equipped with knowledge, skills, and support systems, they become agents of their own progress. Individuals earn more, families become more stable, and entire neighbourhoods begin to thrive.
Yet, deep-rooted barriers — lack of awareness, social exclusion, limited mobility, and inadequate infrastructure — continue to hold communities back. WIDP exists to dismantle these barriers, one family at a time.
What is WIDP
Community-Led. Impact-Driven. Sustainably Built.
WIDP — the Women and Inclusive Development Programme — is a flagship community outreach initiative by Orion Educational Society. It brings together skill development, livelihood support, financial literacy, and awareness of government schemes under one integrated framework — designed specifically for underserved communities across West Bengal.
Through WIDP, we work directly with women’s self-help groups, rural households, and marginalised individuals to understand their needs and co-create solutions. Our approach is deeply participatory — we do not just deliver programmes, we build relationships, trust, and long-term capacity within the communities we serve.
From facilitating access to government entitlements to providing vocational training and entrepreneurship support, WIDP addresses the full spectrum of challenges that stand between a community and its potential.
Our Goal: To build inclusive, self-reliant communities where every individual has the skills, resources, and opportunity to lead a dignified and prosperous life.
What We Do
Practical Support. Lasting Change.
Community Mobilisation
Engaging directly with rural households, self-help groups, and local leaders to identify needs, build awareness, and foster collective action towards community development.
Livelihood & Vocational Training
Providing hands-on skill training in areas such as tailoring, food processing, handicrafts, and small business management — helping individuals earn independently and sustainably.
Government Scheme Facilitation
Guiding community members through the process of accessing government entitlements — from MGNREGA and PM Awas Yojana to scholarships, ration cards, and health insurance schemes.
Financial Literacy & Inclusion
Building awareness around savings, banking, credit, and digital payments — empowering individuals to manage their finances confidently and avoid exploitative lending.
Women's Leadership & Self-Help Groups
Strengthening existing SHGs and forming new ones — creating safe spaces where women can save collectively, support each other, and develop leadership skills.
Sustainable Livelihood Planning
Supporting families in planning long-term income strategies — including micro-enterprise development, market linkages, and access to credit for small businesses.
Be a Catalyst for Change
Every woman deserves the opportunity to grow, lead, and thrive. With your support — as a donor, volunteer, or partner — Orion Educational Society can reach more women, build more skills, and create more futures.
